GET READY FOR IOCC SUNDAY!
November 20, 2016 Welcome autumn by telling fellow parishioners about your work with IOCC—and by organizing an awareness-raising event in your parish for IOCC Sunday: A Day of Sharing. Plan a coffee hour, presentation, or luncheon to introduce your parish to the meaningful change that your support brings to families devastated by disaster. Downloadable materials will be available soon! Here are some ways to participate:
Encourage Clergy Participation: Talk with your priest about the IOCC Sunday Encyclical (coming soon!) from the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States, include materials in the Sunday bulletin, and take a special collection for IOCC.
Encourage Youth Participation: Organize an emergency-kit drive and arrange for the young people in your parish to help assemble them (iocc.org/kits), or host a small IOCC fundraiser (bake sale, angel tree, spaghetti dinner — be creative!).
Set Up an Information Table: A brief presentation paired with an IOCC table display during coffee hour is a great way to show your continued support. Contact an Outreach Coordinator (410-243-9820; firstname.lastname@example.org) to request items like posters, prayer booklets, brochures, icon cards, and magnets.
Race to Respond with TEAM IOCC! "Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us...."
— Heb 12:1 Join our growing team of 12 dedicated supporters at the Baltimore Running Festival on October 15 — give purpose to your passion! When YOU run or walk, families around the world win! IOCC will help you set up a personal fundraising page to share with family and friends how you are making a difference for others. Visit iocc.org/Baltimore for more info.

Did You Know...? IOCC is working in the West Bank and Gaza to build the resilience of women headed households. In rural areas, 75 women are receiving assistance to establish or improve kitchen gardens (whose produce they can eat or sell), as well as training to build their agricultural and marketing skills. Your generosity supports food security and more-stable income for these families.
#GivingTuesday Is November 29 This Year! Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday. It's never too early to get ready for #GivingTuesday! Share what you're doing for this international day of giving on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and tag @IOCCRelief!

New York, NY On September 22, professionals in NYC gathered for an IOCC awareness happy hour at PS 450 on Park Avenue. Apart from a chance to mingle and relax for a good cause, guests also had the opportunity to chat with IOCC Development Officer Lou Zagami, who shared the organization's worldwide projects. Thanks to the dedicated volunteers who organized a fun night out for IOCC!
On Saturday, September 24, 2016 TEAM IOCC: Akron once again stormed the Rubber City Race Series! This year 9 participants from Northeast Ohio took on the marathon, half-marathon, and relay to help serve those most in need around the world. Thank you to all the runners, walkers, and IOCC sponsors and supporters who made a difference by going the extra mile — literally!

O Heavenly King, Comforter, who grants all blessings, we thank You for Your abundant grace and mercies. Help us to be good stewards of Your treasury through the ministry of IOCC.
Help us to strip ourselves of our earthly adornment, so that the poor may be sufficiently clothed and fed. And, by so loving our neighbor, adorn us with the everlasting pearls of virtue instead.
Where there is suffering, help us to bring Your mercy. Where there is despair, Your hope; Where there is war, allow us to present You who are the Prince of Peace; Where there is pain, You who are the Comforter; Where there is hatred, You who are Love; Where there is death and destruction; You who are the Resurrection and Life.
Daily guide our work in IOCC, so that we may do all things, in every place and at all times, for Your glory. Amen.
