Dean did.

An avid runner for years, Dean Stambolis was training for the 5K in the Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend. He’d just retired, and in the run-up to his race, Dean learned that he could team up with us through DIY for IOCC and put some power behind his passion for running.

It was a chance to combine a hobby he loves with a healthy dose of philanthropy.

“I'm a bit older now, and God has blessed me with legs that are still strong,” says Dean.“Why not use God's blessing to me to help others? It makes perfect sense.”

Dean raised over $500 with his run—more than enough to change a few lives. Raising money for IOCC can do so much — here are a few examples:

  • help small-scale farmers in the Balkans
  • assist podoconiosis-affected people in Ethiopia
  • supply new wheelchairs for disabled children in Jordan
  • provide nutritious hot meals to more than Syrian refugee families in Lebanon

Feeling inspired to help us reach our goal of $25,000
