International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) extends sincere thanks for the overwhelming and continued interest to volunteer your time towards the Hurricane Harvey emergency response efforts.

Thorough assessments have determined that the coast of Texas received over 50 inches of rain, damaging at least 200,000 homes and destroying more than 12,700 in the Houston area. In response, IOCC is beginning to help homeowners clear their homes of debris. Our Frontliners remain on the ground providing emotional and spiritual care both to survivors and volunteers at the George R. Brown Convention Center, the largest shelter in the Houston area.

Families who have been affected will continue to need assistance removing debris, ripping out floors, and tearing down water-soaked walls. We have had an overwhelming local response from people in and around Houston. The city is rallying, and we are able to coordinate full teams in responding to relief efforts. Until we can arrange housing for out-of-towners, IOCC is working primarily with local volunteers.

IOCC will be in touch with details as to where and when we need more help. We'll also keep you on our master list as we anticipate this to be a busy hurricane season.

We thank you again for your generous offer of assistance. Please visit and share iocc.org/Harvey for other ways to help.
