Hurricane Irma decimated much of Florida and affected more than 3.5 million families. While media attention has shifted, significant needs remain unmet in Florida. Near Naples, IOCC has identified two families with children who are still living in emergency shelters. IOCC is joining a collaborative effort to help these families get back into their homes by Christmas. And we need your help!

Our Response

IOCC, in partnership with Agape Ministries of St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Naples, Catholic Charities of Florida, and other Orthodox parishes and communities, is looking for volunteers to help with renovations and rebuilding of the homes for these two families.  Volunteers are needed from November 27 – December 23. Join the effort any day of the week!

Requirements

You don’t need to be skilled – just energetic! You must be at least 18 years old. Children aged 16-17 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tools, training, and onsite supervision will be provided.

What You Need to Know

You must provide your own transportation to and from the Naples area. Work days run from 8 am—5 pm. While it would be great to have you for the whole day, you may also work for a half-day. We are especially looking for volunteers who can serve on weekends or for multiple days. Encourage your youth group or other parishioners to give a Saturday to help those in need. Accommodation and some meals can be provided if needed.
