Dinosaur, Colo. (IOCC) — Day 18 of the "Race to Respond" was a marked contrast from the ride up Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park the day before.
Snow-capped, tree-covered mountains in central Colorado gave way to sweeping, rocky mountain ranges and plateaus in northwest Colorado and northeast Utah.
On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the five cyclists of the "Race to Respond" rode from Dinosaur, Colo., to Roosevelt, Utah. On the way, they passed Dinosaur National Monument and crossed the Green River.
The cyclists are entering the last week of their cross-country ride on behalf of International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC). Both their morale and physical condition are good.
"For us to do something we enjoy and be able to help some one at the same time - I think that's great," said Constantine "Dino" Davlantis, one of the five cyclists.
On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the cyclists will ride from Roosevelt, Utah, to Nephi, Utah, stopping at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price, Utah, for a midday event.
The cyclists are riding cross-country in 25 days to raise awareness and support for the people served by IOCC worldwide. The fund-raising goal for the ride is $250,000. To donate, visit www.racetorespond.org or call 877-803-4622.
