IOCC Prepares Response To 8.8 Earthquake In Chile
February 29, 2010
Baltimore, Md. (IOCC) — International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is preparing to respond to the 8.8 quake that struck Chile Saturday, one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded. Initial estimates indicate that hundreds were killed in the quake with damage just beginning to be surveyed, including along coastal areas that were devastated by a tsunami that was touched off by the earthquake.

Constantine M. Triantafilou, IOCC Executive Director, expressed his sympathy for those who have been affected by this earthquake, less than two months after the devastation witnessed following the earthquake in Haiti.

IOCC staff has been in contact with Orthodox Christian and ecumenical partners to monitor and respond to the emerging needs.
