From the founding of IOCC in 1992, volunteer-led Metropolitan Committees around the country have provided invaluable grass roots support in advancing the organization’s humanitarian mission. Throughout the year, these groups of dedicated volunteers have helped raise awareness of IOCC among Orthodox Christians and the general public through fundraising activities such as pan-Orthodox banquets, concerts, sporting events and lectures. The Metropolitan Committees bring together Orthodox Christians of all ethnic and jurisdictional backgrounds in support of a common cause – responding to the call of Christ to minister to people in need wherever they are.

Metropolitan Committees are not IOCC chapters, but rather voluntary groups of IOCC supporters in major cities across the United States. The growing interest in participation has fueled a steady growth in the number of Metropolitan Committees during the past two decades. Currently there are 42 active Metropolitan Committees located in many major metropolitan areas in the United States.
