Elaine Cladis grew up in Denver, CO where she and her family were very involved with St. Catherine's Orthodox Church. This involvement translated into her adult life, where her activities have included Parish Council President, Denver Metropolis Philoptochos President, Executive Secretary of National Philoptochos, St. Basil Academy Board, and now a recently elected member of the IOCC Board of Directors.
Elaine first became aware of IOCC through serving on the National Board of Philoptochos when IOCC became a yearly National Commitment for all 485 Chapters. After hearing about the humanitarian work that IOCC accomplished in Indonesia at the time of the Tsunami, wheel chair distribution in Zimbabwe, and various projects in Ethiopia, Elaine was motivated to become more active with the organization.
Her ambitions have resulted in being the chair of a successful Metropolitan Committee in Denver.
"It is a great accomplishment that our committee consists of 11 pan Orthodox representatives, whose parishes all support our events. It is gratifying that, with our different backgrounds, our focus is on our similarities, rather than our differences. We work well together as a team," Elaine said.
What is the key to having a successful IOCC Metropolitan Committee? Elaine believes it requires participation from all the Pan Orthodox parishes in your region and spreading the responsibilities so that each member plays a significant role in the success of the committee.
Elaine has been blessed with three sons, one daughter, and five grandchildren, all who live in the Denver area and keep her busy after the passing of her beloved husband two and half years ago.
