IOCC Wine Tasting
The Serbian Embassy
October 1, 2010
Orthodox Christianity manifests itself in many earthly ways: candles, icons, incense and hymns to name a few. On the evening of October 1st, Orthodox Christianity manifested itself in a successful wine tasting fundraiser at the Serbian Embassy in Kalorama, Washington, DC, sponsored by the IOCC Metropolitan Washington, DC Committee.
Approximately 100 supporters of IOCC attended the event and raised more than $7,000 for emergency relief and development programs. In addition to hosting the event, the Serbian Embassy generously donated the wine for the tasting, and Orthodoxy's ethnic diversity was on display courtesy of food donated by Greek, Russian, Serbian, Ethiopian and other restaurants in the area.
In addition to harkening to Christ's miracle of turning water into wine, the spirits helped ensure lively bidding during the silent auction.
The evening was capped of by brief remarks by IOCC board member Steve Radakovish and our host from the Embassy, the First Counselor Djerdj Matkovic. Congratulations to the attendess, volunteers, and organizers for helping fulfill the commands of Christ!
