6th Annual Fundraiser Banquet
November 8, 2008
The 6th Annual fundraiser banquet was hosted by the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, on Saturday, November 8, 2008. We were honored to have Constantine Triantafilou as our guest speaker, and intrigued to hear about his personal experiences in the 16 years of leadership of the good works of IOCC around the world.
Our event began with Vespers, followed by a reception in the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church banquet hall, accompanied by the “Becari” Slavonic Fold musicians who continues to play during dinner. A delicious dinner was prepared by one of their parishioners, David Lekich, who incidentally, met Dean Triantafilou the Saturday morning of our banquet on the plane coming to St. Louis! Would you say David is a busy man? He was flying home from a business trip! After dinner, we were entertained by the Cossack Dancers. The group consists of parishioners from the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Church in Madison, Illinois, ranging in age from 5 to 50 plus. These talented dancers are very proud of their heritage and enjoy sharing it with others in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
We thanked Very Rev. Fr, Radomir Chkautovich and his parish for their warm hospitality and the elegant dée;cor of their church hall.
Christine Lemakis thanked our co-chairs, Mary Angelides, Violet Niesen and Katherine Sharos for a job well done. Christine also thanked everyone for their dedication, devotion and contributions in support of IOCC in every way.
One hundred seventy-five people attended our banquet and we are ecstatic to report the net proceeds exceeded all previous years! Yes, by the Grace of God, we are reaching out to the hearts of all in achieving the means to enabled IOCC to continue doing God’s will.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
