On the Sunday of September 19th, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox church in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, held its first IOCC luncheon.

The event turned out to be a huge success thanks to all of our parishioners who embraced such a worthy cause with unmatched enthusiasm and generosity. As a community, we decided to put away for a day our home and family problems and our personal challenges. We chose to focus on the needs of others. As Orthodox Christians, we chose to help people in times of need so that we may live our faith through action. Equally important, we showed to our children that we do care as Orthodox Christians about other people who are in need of our help. We were the very first Orthodox Church in Rhode Island to host an event in support of IOCC. Our parish members donations reached the amount of $1545 dollars, which in the hands of

IOCC will translate in even more resources for those who seek help.
