Wherever the renowned Duquesne University Tamburitzans perform, "their stage becomes a kaleidoscope of sight and sound" and this certainly was the case at the recent IOCC benefit performance at Upper St. Clair High School auditorium in Pittsburgh, PA. It is fitting that both the Tamburitzans and the IOCC were born in Pittsburgh, a city reflecting a melting pot of eastern European culture, tradition and compassion. Prior to the performance, Nicholas Chakos, IOCC Development Officer, spoke about the mission of the IOCC and recent progress in Haiti. In addition, IOCC Pittsburgh Metropolitan Committee Chairperson, Nicholas Terezis, gave a brief overview of local activities. The program commenced with over 2 hours of non-stop, high-spirited, hand clapping folk dances and musical numbers that brought the audience to their feet several times.

The IOCC Pittsburgh Metropolitan Committee is grateful to the key chair people: Mary Ann Renk, Kevin Renk, Sophie Farah, Nick Terazis and Vera Croitoru. Special thanks to Helene Emrick who baked many of the intermission's refreshments, and to our 23 volunteers that helped with promotion, tickets, and ushering. Megan Carniewski, IOCC Outreach Coordinator, also attended the event to help teach people about IOCC. Over 425 people attended the performance!
