2007 Event

On Saturday, August 25, 2007, the 4th annual Bike Ride/Walk for IOCC was held at E.B. Rains Memorial Park in Northglenn, Colorado. It was a beautiful day with views of the lake and the Rocky Mountains. Of special note this year was the increase in entire families participating with children of all ages enjoying the morning through prayer and exercise while learning about the mission of IOCC. We were saddened by the absence of Fr. Nicholas Dotson of Sts. Peter & Paul in Boulder who was ill in the hospital instead of being with us at this event that he had actively participated in since the 2002 Race to Respond. Unanimously, it was decided that Fr. Lou Christopoulos of St. Catherine's in Greenwood Village would present him with a beautiful Ethiopian cross from IOCC--originally intended to be given to the person who collected the most funds for this charity event. Fr. Lou officiated at the prayer service of the Blessing of the Five Loaves--especially dedicated to all who may be sick, hungry or suffering from being displaced from their homes, livelihood and loved ones due to famine, war and/or natural disaster. Participants raised nearly $4,000 and represented parishes from the following jurisdictions: Greek Orthodox Archidiocese, Antiochian and Orthodox Church in America.
