November 7, 2010

Washington, DC's Orthodox community came together once again on November 7th to share the "Spirit of Love" at the IOCC Metropolitan Washington Committee's annual banquet. More than 100 guests attended the event, held this year at Saints Peter and Paul Antiochian Church in Potomac.

The international Orthodox evening started with a Vespers service performed by Father George Rados and Father Michael Koblosh with entertainment provided by Slaveya, a Balkan women's vocal ensemble, and Niavi, Washington's only mixed Georgian ensemble.

IOCC major gifts officer Lou Zagami was the event's featured speaker. Mr. Zagami described IOCC's work to serve communities around the world, highlighting the spirit of love at the center of that service.

Mr. Zagami was joined by other IOCC supporters, including board member John Sitilides, former Administrator of the US Agency for International Development Andrew Natsios (IOCC works closely with USAID), and former U.S. Ambassador to Qatar Patrick Theros.

The strong show of support for the "Spirit of Love" resulted in an excellent and inspiration event, but also helped the Washington DC Committee generate more than $24,000 for IOCC service projects around the world in 2010.
